Students’ Initiative for a Plastic-Free Mumbai

‘Be fantastic,  refuse the plastic!’

-       Mrs.Shikha Yadav

On 12th March, students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga conducted a campaign on “Avoid Using Single-Use Plastic” as a part of the Eco Club – ‘Mission for Life’. Students of Std. VI and VIII, along with their teachers Ms. Shikha Yadav and Sir Shailendra Mishra, participated in the activity.

The students interacted with vegetable vendors, food stall owners, senior citizens, and college students to spread awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic. They also distributed newspaper bags made by the students as an eco-friendly alternative. Senior citizens encouraged the use of cloth and paper bags, while college students supported awareness drives to reduce plastic usage. Vendors also appreciated the initiative. The campaign successfully created awareness about protecting the environment and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

The campaign was a meaningful and successful initiative that encouraged responsible habits and community participation towards building a greener and healthier environment.
