Sr. KG Class Event-Types of Houses- Ms. Natty D' Souza
A joyful and enriching class event on the topic “Different Types of Houses” was successfully conducted for the Sr. KG students on 15th December 2025. The objective of this activity was to help children understand various types of houses, improve their speaking skills, and encourage creativity through hands-on learning. The children arrived at school with great excitement and enthusiasm. They wore colourful head bands displaying pictures of different types of houses such as huts, bungalows, apartments, igloos, and houseboats on their foreheads. Each child was given an opportunity to speak three simple sentences about the type of house shown on their hair band. This activity helped develop their confidence, vocabulary, sentence formation, and public speaking skills in a fun and supportive environment. To further enhance their understanding, a creative classroom activity was conducted. The boys had brought cardboard houses from home. They enthusiastically decorated their houses using colours, paper, and other craft materials. The children also drew pictures of the family members living in their houses, which helped them express their emotions and understand the concept of family and home. This activity encouraged creativity, imagination, fine motor skills, and teamwork among the students. As a special highlight of the event, every child was given a beautifully crafted house made from ice-cream sticks as a takeaway. This small token served as a reminder of the day’s learning and brought immense joy to the children. The event was a wonderful blend of learning and fun, making the concept of different types of houses easy to understand and memorable for the young learners. The children actively participated and thoroughly enjoyed the entire session, making it a successful and meaningful educational experience. Through this activity, children were sensitized to the idea that while there are many different types of houses, not everyone has a big or comfortable home. They were gently guided to understand that many people live in small or simple houses, and that having a safe place to live is a blessing. The children were encouraged to feel grateful for the shelter and comfort their parents provide and to develop empathy and respect for others, regardless of where or how they live. This value helped nurture a sense of thankfulness, kindness, and social awareness among the young learners.
