Report on Std II Teacher`s Department Training for New Syllabus 2026-27

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Pune, Maharashtra, conducted a three-day training programme for Std. II teachers of Municipal and Municipal Aided schools, The training was held in two batches from 26th -28th June and 29th June to 1st July 2026 at Prabhodankar Thakre Municipal School, Mumbai Public School, Sewri, under the able guidance of Mr Milesh Sahare, Mr Rajan Rathod, Mr Ravi Khobragade.

The training commenced each day with a morning assembly. On Day one of the training the completion of a Google Form as a pre-training test to assess the participants’ prior knowledge was used.

The sessions focused on the Foundational Stage as outlined in the State Curriculum Framework (SCF), with reference to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Important topics such as Child Safety and the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) were also discussed. The concept of rubric-based assessment was introduced, and its effectiveness and advantages over traditional methods of evaluation were highlighted. Evaluation would comprise of Formative Evaluation of 70 marks and a Summative Evaluation of 30 marks. The focus while teaching should be on the learning outcomes.

The resource persons emphasised the significance of activity-based and skill-based learning in promoting the holistic development of every child. The learning outcomes associated with skill-based education, along with the broader aims of education, were explained through interactive discussions and practical examples.

To demonstrate engaging classroom practices, several ice-breaker activities incorporating rhymes and songs were shared. Participants also undertook creative art and craft projects, which they later displayed and integrated with various curricular subjects. They explained the interdisciplinary connections and identified the corresponding learning outcomes, showcasing how experiential learning can be effectively implemented in the classroom.

At the conclusion of the training programme, the teacher trainees filled a post training test Google form. They were presented with relieving orders and certificates in recognition of their successful participation.
