NEP 2020 Teacher Training Programme
NEP 2020 Teacher Training Programme
"Education flourishes when teaching nurtures both competence and character.”
- Ms. Ann Miranda
The training programme began with a session on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizing the importance of learning outcomes, understanding students' frames of mind, and adopting the role of a teacher as a facilitator. Effective pedagogical approaches in the teaching-learning process were discussed and the session concluded with an activity on learning outcomes.
The next session explained the vision, goals, and objectives of NEP 2020 highlighting various methods and procedures for making classroom teaching more engaging and meaningful. The session concluded with a creative activity with drawing sheets.
The programme further enhanced educators’ understanding of contemporary teaching practices through discussions on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), Competency-Based Education (CBE), the Accelerated Education Programme (AEP), interdisciplinary learning, and holistic student development. Emphasis was placed on learner-centred and experiential teaching, effective assessment strategies, and integrating subjects to make learning more relevant and meaningful.
The training also focused on student welfare and child protection by creating awareness about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, 2015. Teachers’ roles and responsibilities in ensuring students’ safety and well-being were discussed in detail. Participants were also introduced to Art Education as a means of fostering creativity and self-expression. The vision of NEP 2020 aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, promoting inclusive and equitable quality education. The concept of the Holistic Progress Card was also explained as a comprehensive tool for assessing students’ academic, social, emotional, and co-curricular growth.
The training equipped teachers with practical strategies to enhance classroom practices, support holistic student development, and promote quality education in accordance with the objectives of NEP 2020.
