Std. I–IV
Mrs. Blossy D’Silva
“Language is the foundation of culture and identity. By celebrating Marathi Bhasha Diwas, we honour our roots and preserve our rich heritage.”
During the vibrant celebration held at Don Bosco Primary School on 27th February 2026. Organized with great enthusiasm in the Fr. Joseph Casti Hall of the Primary Section, the programme was meticulously planned by the Marathi teachers to inspire students of Std. I–IV to respect, love, and proudly embrace the Marathi language. The day began with a special morning assembly where students offered prayers in Marathi and shared reflective thoughts. A special homage was paid to the iconic poet Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar, popularly known as Kusumagraj, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Marathi Bhasha Diwas. Students were enlightened about his life and his monumental contributions to the world of literature during the morning talk.
Addressing the young audience, Mrs. Blossy D’Silva spoke passionately about the rich traditions and literary treasures of Maharashtra, encouraging the boys to take pride in speaking this language and preserving its cultural identity. This sentiment was echoed by the students themselves; Master Advik Shinde of Grade IV A expressed his joy, stating that he feels a deep sense of pride whenever he speaks Marathi. To deepen their understanding, a PowerPoint presentation was screened, featuring a meaningful Marathi story that imparted strong moral values in an engaging manner. In the classrooms of Std. I and II learning was made joyful through activities such as storytelling, poem recitation, and handwriting practice. Meanwhile, for the older students of Std. III and IV, the Marathi Elocution Competition became a platform for budding orators to shine. Reflecting on the experience, Master Prince D'Souza mentioned that he loved the celebration and felt immensely proud to have participated in the elocution competition.
The competition was presided over by judges Mrs. Shweta Shelke, Mrs. Kanta Shinde, and Mrs. Samruddha Gopreddy, who highly commended the talent and sincerity displayed on stage. The participants demonstrated impressive preparation, reciting poems with confident expressions and clear pronunciation.
