Night School

The Don Bosco Night Study Classes cater to the needs of the underprivileged youth of the neighborhood by means of the various facilities that it provides. The boys belong to the socio economic backward class and most of them live in slums like Dharavi, Wadala, Sundernagar and Four Roads. Most of the boys' parents work as domestic coolies, construction workers etc. A large number of slum youth, attending the neighborhood municipal schools, like facilities for regular studies at home.

Realizing their acute need, we have set a part a few classrooms were two hundred boys from 7th to 10th are able to have two hours of supervised study. The Night Class is operated under the direct supervision of the Principal. The ex-students collaborate in assisting and guiding the boys. The boys are provided with a proper study atmosphere, are assisted with their homework and coached in English and Mathematics.

As they lack wholesome recreation, we provide them with these facilities and other extra curricular activities. Six days a week, the boys play for an hour and are provided with a hot, wholesome and appetizing evening meal.

Our aim, which is to assist them in their studies and overall development, can be spelt out in the following points:

The main objective is to help them to complete their SSC.
To improve their self image, develop talents and impart training towards leadership.
To create an integrated method of working with the school, family and other night study class students.
To help them build their own future, by giving them a sense of direction in choosing a proper vocation.
