1.         03.07.2011    Hike to SANSHI (Badruddin, Pen area) 200 m / 666 ft)

A small fort situated near Pen. It has many water tanks on the top. It is armature treks paradise. It is accesable by road from Pen-Panvel road. Here get down at Chunabhatti village which is 14km before

Pen, from here walk about 6km to the tomb of Badruddin. From the foot of the fort where you have gentle climb upto fort.

 

Cost:               500/- per head

Route:             Mumbai to Chunabhatti by bus and then trek to Sanshi Fort.       

Assemble:      On 03.07.2011 at School at 5.00 a.m. and will return by 9.00 p.m. on the same day

 

2.         07.08.2011    Hike to TAVLI CAVE (750m / 2400ft) Badalapur Region

This cave is situated at the base of Tavli Pinnacle. It has excellent a view, but frisky and exposed. From Kokuli Lake proceed to the Pinnacle which is separated by a ridge, which comes down to the base of pinnacle almost to the source of the lake. From here we have to climb the ridge to reach the top a little descent and the base pinnacle is reached. After a traverse about 1km on the Badalapur side of the pinnacle you reach the cave.

Route:             Mumbai to Hajimalang base by bus and then trek to Tavli Cave.

3.         19.08.2011    PALGHAR FORT (KALDURG) 469 m / 1159 ft) Palghar area

You can see the Palghar fort from Palghar Railway Station East. Proceed to Nevali Pada (2km) and then turn to the east to reach Bhagola which 3km. a variety of roots leads up to the ridges. There is a cluster of rocks a little before the highest point is known as Nandi and the summit is known as Shiva. The fort is also known as Nandi Mal. There are two huge water tanks at the top.

Route:             Mumbai to Bhagola village by bus and then trek to Kaldurg.

Assemble       On 19.08.2011 at School at 5.00 a.m. and will return by 9.00 p.m. on the same day.

 

4.         04.09.2011    Matheran via Porcupine Point (767 m / 2516 ft)

Matheran is well known hill station and paradise for the hikers particularly in the monsoon.

 

Cost:               500/-per head

Route:             Mumbai to Nare village via Panvel by bus and then trek to Matheran.    

Assemble       On 04.09.2011 at School at 5.00 a.m. and will return by 9.00 p.m. on the same day.

 

5.         18.09.2011    Hike to ghosalgad (372 m – 1222 ft.) Roha Region

This small fort is in the Konkan plains which used to be Siddhi Johar’s strong hold to protect the Murud Janjira enclave. Village Ghoslgad can be seen from Roha (13km south). The fort is 5 km north-west from the village on the hill between the Rave Danda and Slava Creek.

Route:             Mumbai to Ghosale village via Roha by bus and then trek.          

Assemble       On 18.09.2011 at School at 5.00 a.m. and will return by 9.00 p.m. on the same day

 

6.         02.11.2011    Hike to kavnai fort (914 m – 3000 ft.) Igatpuri Region

It’s an enjoyable outing for the trekkers near Ghoti village a little ahead of igatpuri bifocated from Nashik main road to the left on the road leading to upper Vaiterna dam. From here 3 km ahead is Vaki village. You can see cart tracks, which leads to West Col of Kavnai via Beturli village. From the Col you traverse at the base of Massif. A narrow chimney like formation leads to the top. There is a small lake at the top.
